PSHE

Welcome to the PSHE (Personal, Social and Health education) page of our school website! Mrs Crump co-ordinates PSHE throughout the school. Personal, Social and Health Education is a school subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepare for life and work in modern Britain.

The children study this throughout the school in the form of circle times, discussion based lessons and through cross curricular lessons.

In Early Years, PSHE is taught discretely through Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) which is one of the three prime areas of the EYFS curriculum. Helping children to form positive relationships, develop social skills, learn how to manage their feelings and have confidence in their own abilities, PSED forms one of the foundation subjects which underpins all other areas of the EYFS curriculum.

PSHE covers three themes throughout the year, which supports the fundamental aspects of emotional wellbeing:

  •            Health and Well-being (healthy lifestyles; keeping safe; growing and changing)
  •            Relationships (healthy relationships; feelings and emotions; valuing difference)
  •            Living in the Wider World (rules, rights and responsibilities; caring for the environment;       money)

At Haddenham Community Infant school we teach the statutory parts of PSHE – Relationships Education (please see our Relationships Education policy) and Health Education through our PSHE curriculum. The Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education (England) Regulations 2019, made under sections 34 and 35 of the Children and Social Work Act 2017, make Relationships Education compulsory for all pupils receiving primary education and Health Education compulsory for all state funded schools.
